Biography:
Dr. Schwarz is Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at The Long Island College Hospital and Professor of Pediatrics at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn. A graduate of Yale College and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Schwarz received his training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Columbia and Stanford Universities. Dr. Schwarz served on the faculty of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 1980-84, and at New York Medical College from 1984-95. At New York Medical College, he was awarded the Charles H. Revson Foundation Career Scientist Award and he was both Chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and Director of the Graduate Program in Nutrition. In 1995, Dr. Schwarz was named Distinguished Lecturer in the Graduate School of Health Sciences at New York Medical College, where he teaches both Nutrition and Health Management and Policy.

His professional associations include memberships in the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Gastroenterological Association and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. Dr. Schwarz is a senior member of The Society for Pediatric Research, a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition, and he serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Pediatric Crohn’s and Colitis Association. He has published over 90 peer-reviewed articles, reviews and abstracts on a wide array of basic science and clinical subjects in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition.
