Breast Cancer Newly Diagnosed

Doctors sometimes recommend that patients bring a tape recorder to their visits

Often breast cancer patients are overwhelmed by the news that they have this illness. There is so much that they want to know, yet they may not retain much information when initially faced with the different options available in treating their disease. There are issues concerning the stage and characteristics of their cancer as well as choices to make not only in treatment, but also in choosing the right medical team to work with. Doctors suggest that by tape-recording their sessions with a doctor, patients can then go home and in the quiet of their own home, listen to the information that the doctor provides. That way they listen and comprehend the information at their own speed and not miss important points.
